Air intake preheater hose
Sounds sophisticated but in reality it’s a piece of corrugated hose that goes from a cowl around the exhaust manifold to the air intake. It is switches by a wax thermostat. After a while the engine movement shears the pipe and it falls apart. Having tried many options I finally found a fix from CEF (City Electrical Factors) who supply corrugated ducting in 1 m lengths. It’s steel and unwinds so it needs tin snips to cut to length but does fit tightly on the 50mm dia ports.

Do you have an article number of them?

I think this is the one I used. You can buy a single metre length. Please check though |
A bit late here, but I repaired the original ducting/ pipe using self adhesive aluminium tape bought from Lidl. May help someone else.

When running LPG it is usually best to remove that pipe
|
Okay, why’s that?
|
1) the carb does not freeze on LPG (the vaouriser does)
2) the change in air temp messes with the fuel mixture |
I used cardboard and electrical wire to fix mine on my 1980 1.4 back in the early 90s. Carb freezing is definately a thing at 70mph around 0C. On slowing down it recovered.
