Windows do not go up.
 

Hi . As newbe and on top that a norwegian, I guess I better have to be careful, both in writing and how to come to the point without writng a whole book. Ok, today after getting some pretty hot air out I felt the AC was doing its job, so I pulled the windowsknob up, and, nothing happened! This was on my driver side door, left, so I managed to come home with the window wide open. When at home, I tried the other windows, passenger side front, works fine, down and up, passenger side rear, down, works fine, but not up, on my side, left, the rear window works flawless! Does anybody got it? I have not a clue! Please any.

Window switches prone to problems. They will often come back to life if you clean the contacts. Not too tricky to get inside the switches. If you swap the switch panel from the other side, that will prove if the wiring is good. There are a few other posts on this problem if you would like to do a search.

V70 or 850?

If V70 dirty switch contacts is most likely cause. In 850 its either same dirty switch contacts or a broken wire k. The door wiring harness.

I was sceptical of opening up the switch cluster in case I couldn't get it back together correctly but it was ok.

Low-tech solution worth trying
 

I had exactly this problem on my Saab 9-3. But there was nothing wrong with the switch or the motor - the window was simply stuck! The solution was to squirt some silicone lubricant down the window channels.

It may be of course that the switch is faulty, but equally, it could be a simple case of lubrication - and that has to be worth a try at first!
