XC90 2016 3G Modem replacement ?

Hi
After troubleshooting for a long time i found out that there is ONLY a 3G modem in my car :-(

Is there a solution for replaceing the 3G Modem ?
Is there drawings / pictures over the modem unit, wirediagram ?

any help will do :-)

It's not possible to upgrade the modem to 4G.

The modem is part of the main comms board and that alone is ~£1,500. There are also other modules which differ making later modules incompatible with earlier ones.

I've attached pics of a later MY comms board.

The car's systems should run perfectly well with 3G. What trouble does your system have that you believe is related to 3G?

If that is indeed a problem where you are, it is possible to run the system off your phone's wi-fi hotspot or a wi-fi hotspot 'wingle' like the Huawei E8372 WiFi/WLAN LTE modem. You could use your current car's SIM card for the wingle.

...until 3G is turned off.

My MY2009 XC90 is 1G / 2G only, and my operator turned off their 2G network this year, rendering my car phone inoperable.

Which network turned off 2G? I think the three operators in the UK are not going to turn it off until 2039 due to the reliance of things like smart meters which use 2G (they're still being rolled out until 2024!)...

The other issue is that cars that notify the emergency services if the airbags have been deployed have also used 2G, so that's got to be maintained for cars already on the road....

Worry about that when it happens. I did mention that your car could run off a so-called wingle on 4G today if you wish.

But in NORWAY 3G is shutting down ...

I think i better go for a external 4G router/modem like this https://teltonika-networks.com/product/rut240/
