Rear Lights
Help please,
my 2004 V70 SE lux D5 geartronic. About 5 minutes after setting the car to lock with the key fob the rear lights come on & stay on. This is flattening my battery, so I disconnect each time I park. Does any of you members have any idea why. I apologise if this is in the wrong section but the forum is so hard to navigate. Regards to all |
which rear lights? I'm assuming either sidelights or brake?
(yes this is the right section don't worry) |
Sorry, it is the large sidelights.
The vehicle has been standing for a month & all sorts of messages & clicks are being heard when I re-connect the battery |
The rear lights also come on if I lock manually. (with the key)
Hope you may have some ideas, I am at a loss. As you may appreciate, it is difficult doing some things with the battery disconnected. CJ. |
It's not one I've heard of before but I don't profess to be an expert i just try and help with the things I do know..
Definitely no front side lights or interior lights? Just the rears And do those fronts / interiors work when the battery is connected and you switch them on I know for example the only way I can turn on my sidelights when my car is all locked up is pressing the yellow button on my fob, but that turns on front / rear and inside. Have you tried pressing that to turn them off My gut reaction would be some sort of module fault (REM?) Or water damage / wiring short or something maybe |
Faulty light switch maybe?
|
Thanks for your message.
All lights work when the battery is connected. All the lights go off when the light switch is turned off. The vehicle is parked and locked with the fob & alarm set. About 5 mins later only the rear lights come & stay on. Also, the rear lights come on when parked with no key in or alarm set. Completely baffles me. Next stop I guess is the CEM which I am wary about removing & checking. Thanks anyway. C |
Hi,
the light switch appears to work normally. thanks for your suggestion. C |
would it not be the REM (rear module) because it's only the rear lights
fingers crossed it is because it's a whole lot easier to get at.. someone else would have to confirm how the lighting is connected up though I may be wrong |
On Range Rovers this symptom was the brake light switch behind the brake pedal. Worth checking this is OK
