Accessing fuel float (Rear nearside )
How to access the fuel float sender .Under the white plastic cover with electrical connector . Not the pump side that has the teeth ring etc . Want to access and check .But No youtube video shows how to remove the cover ! Ive removed the metal cover but wont attempt the plastic until i have a clue

It’s a special tool..
However I used 2 very big screwdrivers braced against each other to shift the locking rings. You may snap some of the plastic teeth off though as it needs a lot of pressure to shift them. Both sides are the same btw. Have you read the float levels with vida to see what’s going on? Oh, and don’t try and do it until the tank is low or the fuel level is higher than the access hatch. |
Still have not accessed the WHITE plastic cover that is on the FLAT section under the passenger seat .NOT the other one sat higher up on the drivers side rear . Ive read somewhere that some people have managed to get a better result just by rotating the arrow point a few mm left or right. Today the car ( I was testing it for this reason) stuttered when starting and showing 60 miles of petrol left. last time it did it is showed about 110 miles left . Once the car became level after coasting down the road. It all started fine and i put 1/2 a tank of fuel in etc

Just get one of these, should do the job.

It shouldn’t be, can you put a picture on of what you mean?
I did the job on a P2 and both locking rings are the same. |
do you mean level sensor indicated as no.4
VIDA (for my car at least) confirms locking ring no6 is the same on both sides https://i.ibb.co/VNJDJJZ/fuel-tank.jpg |
Ive removed the metal cover . And can see the white plastic cover . But no toothed ring.BUT,... there is a soft black plastic/rubber donut thing around the top. THis might be removable ?? could be a cover etc to stop dirt getting down. `Now it seems there is a toothed ring .I will venture further .Did not want to remove something and find I have "gone wong"

That donut is just a seal for the upper cover. It should just pull out.

Cheers .Didnt want to make a mistake and find I had ruined a petrol seal etc !
