Tyres…….cross climate 2?
So have been planning on changing tyres this winter and was waiting for a deal on cross climates but have I left it too late? Cross climate 2? Better worse?
Any deals? 18” for xc60 Michelin had a few offers cash back etc but still Looking like £500+ |
Winter tyres are hard to get at the moment and more expensive, period....
Oponeo has about 20% of the selection it normally has, if that.... |
I have run Cross Climates for a few years now but was going to give the Avon SA7 a go next time I changed, About £30 per corner cheaper.

I have always run separate winter and summer tyres until I got the cross climates. People who say they are as good as winters only say that as they have not run winter tyres! Cross climates are not as good as winter tyres however they are very very good and if you take care in snow and slush and reduce your speed they will take you pretty much anywhere!
I live in the south where we don’t have vast amounts of snow. And living where I live if we do get a snow downpour then all the roads are blocked. Accordingly cross climates are great. Cross climates should be used by all with the exception of those who live in very very remote areas when not only do they get lots of snow but also they are so remote they can drive around without the roads blocked. I used to run Avon winters on my Vauxhall zavira and the were in a league above. I will also say cross climates last an incredible time! |

Hello. I have a XC60 D5 AWD. Only had it one year. I put Michelin latitude cross tyres on. Not cross climates!£540 for four all in. Ran them for one year. I bought an AWD for my needs. I fish and shoot a lot.
They have done very well. All terrain they are designed for and they do it in spades. I will buy again. |
