Fuel starvation / tank baffles

I'm curious, is the stock fuel tank meant to be baffled?

I'm getting fuel starvation whenever I'm around 1/4 tank and go round a long left hand bend, such as a motorway flyover.

It may be a case that they all do this, just want to know if I should be fixing it.

I don't think they do have baffles.

Could it be that the in-tank pump is weak or has failed? The system usually continues to work on the main pump alone, but struggles when the level gets low.

Doubtful as it's brand new. It will run the tank dry without issue as long as I don't do any long corners!

Looking into this further there should be a cylindrical bucket shape that the pump sits in that should act as the baffle, or at least hold enough petrol to get you round a corner.

I wonder why this isn't working as expected.

When I rebuilt my pump I had a good nosey in the tank and your right, there is a cylindrical walled area that the pick up sits in. I wonder if your filter has maybe got squashed up? I know mine did as I measured the distance from top to bottom to ensure it sat correctly etc.

I'm actually wondering if the opposite is true, and I need to extend it a little.

The filter is also new, and has a pretty strong spring inside to stop it collapsing.

I guess I should get the measuring tape out.
