CV Joint

CV joint (drivers side) need replacing on my 2010 XC70 205bhp. Looked on youtube and searched other guides but can't find CV or drive shaft replacement on later models.

I've done a CV joint on a 2003 P2 V70, simple knock it off with a hammer while been carful not to knock the complete drive shaft out. Then replace the clip and knock the new one on again (tip used a section of 3X3 timber with hole drilled in the end which fits over the shaft to protect the shaft end from mushrooming while hammering it on)

So question, Is the CV joint the same on 2008on XC70's as P3 V70 ? or do I need to replace the complete drive shaft ? if so does the complete drive shaft just slide out of the gear box (with a little help) or is there a bolt holding it in place ?

Thanks in advance

Yep that is a 2005 V70 and found a lot for early P2 V70/xc70 which I've done in the past.

Problem is I can't find anything for later 2008 on XC70 mine been a 2010 which have a Ford set up on them.

Guessing it's the same even though the CV is different in that it does not have the ABS ring, ABS is built into the wheel bearing on the later models with Ford suspension.

Can buy the complete drive shaft with CV's fitted. Guess it will just slide out and slide new on in to the box but that is the question

Oh bro I'm sorry for that, I forgot it's P2

I can start VIDA to find "how to do it" and post pics here. Maybe can help?

Thanks mate, seems not much on youtube ect re P3 CV or drive shaft, but they do sell the CV joint on it's own, just ordered one going to attempt it. Hope it is as easy on the P3 as the P2. Worse part when I did it on the P2 is stopping the drive shaft separating while knocking the CV off with a not so gentle persuader. Getting the new one on has stated was easy too with a section of 3x3 fence post with an wide hole drilled in the end to fit over the CV shaft to prevent mushrooming the end which would then prevent it fitting into the bearing. Will let you know how I go on. Thanks again
