A 'recommended garages' sticky?

Hi Chaps, just wondered if there has ever been a thread or 'Sticky' for recommended Volvo specialists out there? I'd certainly like to add one, if possible...

I had the pleasure of taking my C70 to Evolve Motoring Services, just off the M18 near Doncaster, for a 'post-purchase inspection' - particularly the underneath bits!

Rob, the owner, was a great guy to meet and clearly has a passion for our 'oldies'. I'll have no hesitation in using his services should my DIY skills prove inadequate:regular_smile:

I should, of course, point out that I have no connection with Rob's business - for all I know he may already be well known on here!

Thanks for this!

While I have never heard of this company, I DO know of the industrial estate as there is an independent LandRover garage there (owned by a friend of mine) - and I had my alloy wheels refurbished at another company there!

I'll certainly be popping in at some point to give them the once over - its always handy having a knowledgeable specialist to do those jobs that you don't want to do (rear main seal anyone?!)

I can wholly recommend Dyrdals volvo in York, North Yorks.
I got my v70 tdi from them a 5 years ago, always good and fair.

Absolutely agree about Dyrdals. We've been customers since 2005, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend their service.

You usually have to book a week or more in advance, which surely is an indication of a good garage!

Maybe they were having a bad day, but somehow I think they simply lack the grey-matter. I can tell you who 'not' to go to:

BPC Motor Engineers in Chesham
https://www.bpcvolvo.co.uk/

Sent my 1999 V70 there for a PCV job. Their main man had no idea of the workings of the PCV, or how to verify its operation. Found a standard Gunson type gauge which was put to the oil-filler cap. When it didn't read +ve, deemed that as evidence the job was done. Fine I suppose for an amateur, only a PCV is a 'walk-in-the-park' routine service job for a Volvo independent.

You're never going to see -0.2kPa or lower on a Gunson (-0.029 psi for chrissakes). A rubber-glove helps.

When I asked about his manometer his vacancy spoke to me. Stupidity wins any argument. To get out of there, I was forced to pay £400 to a walking-idiot. In the finish, did the job myself.

Hi - did anything come of this? I'm keen to know if there's a good specialist in my neck of the woods (mid-Warwickshire).

There is a 'sticky' in the General section of the forum with a link to the VOC website and their list of garages, the thread was started in 2006 so not sure how updated it is, and then there's 21 pages of posts which I'd start at the end and work back to see if someone has recommended anyone in your area.
