clutch replacement?

Anyone had to change a clutch on a manual xc90 yet? Just wondering what sort of lifespan they have, given moving 2 tons of metal, etc about?

Thanks

Ross

yep changed a few,not a nice job, takes approx 7 hours,if you set off with low revs and low torque and then boot it when fully engaged it will last a long while, its hard to say how long, but there has been more faults with the slave cylinder leaking and occasional flywheels rattling.

Hi Ross,
Had mine changed at just under 100k - but only because it had become contaminated from a leaking Slave Cylinder. It would have been silly not to have changed it at the same time anyway - as Ross says it's a long job - might as well do the two together.
I'm sure it will depend entirely on the sort of mileage and type of driving the car does - mine does fairly long haul miles - so little day to day wear on the clutch bits - but a lower mileage with lots of short trips would probably wear it a lot quicker - so lots of miles is not necessarily an indicator of how much life it's got left in it - I'd be more interested in keeping an eye on the clutch fluid level for early signs of slave cylinder problems..

Cheers
Ian.
