clutch replacement?
Anyone had to change a clutch on a manual xc90 yet? Just wondering what sort of lifespan they have, given moving 2 tons of metal, etc about?
Thanks Ross |

Hi Ross,
Had mine changed at just under 100k - but only because it had become contaminated from a leaking Slave Cylinder. It would have been silly not to have changed it at the same time anyway - as Ross says it's a long job - might as well do the two together. I'm sure it will depend entirely on the sort of mileage and type of driving the car does - mine does fairly long haul miles - so little day to day wear on the clutch bits - but a lower mileage with lots of short trips would probably wear it a lot quicker - so lots of miles is not necessarily an indicator of how much life it's got left in it - I'd be more interested in keeping an eye on the clutch fluid level for early signs of slave cylinder problems.. Cheers Ian. |
