as i´m aware the grand luxe trim level was introduced for the 1971 update so you´re not missing it from 1970 as it doesn´t exist :)

Well there is were you are wrong ;)

There was a 144 Grand Luxe 1970 made for Germany!

I only seen pictures of it,but it has "Grand Luxe" badge (not sure about fenders)at the rear atleast in the old style writing same as in "overdrive" and "automatic" for -->1970

It had the steelblue-metallic paint and black leather and the "S"engine.

So we can probably thank the germans that there is such a model because it was probably a request from them to start making them.

You might also want a 1975 US 164E badge, in the 200 style for the cross-over year:

There were a few 1970 144 Grand Luxe sold in Western Europe. I have that rear end badge (not for sale). I know about 4+ of these cars throughout Europe.

The 1970 Grand Luxe had the Grand Luxe emblem on the rear end only. As it had a B20B engine, the front fenders had the usual 144S badge. On the dashboard there were no emblem, as the 71-72 model had.

Keep up with collecting, nice collection already. Soon you will reach the level of this canadian; http://www.flickr.com/photos/12663308@N06/6810557401

Canadian emblem collector here, that is a great collection you have. I got hooked on collecting emblems when I started searching for 242 GL emblems for my restoration of a 1977 242 GL. I had bought a new one so many years ago now, but it was not until I started to restore a 242 to the same configuration that I found out haw rare a car I had, and I started searching everywhere for those emblems, after about 4 years of collecting I finally found a complete set of NOS 242 GL emblems.
Being in Canada many specific 200 series and other cars were not offered here, So I have learned many words of Swedish, German and others to search all over the world for emblems.
I now have emblems of cars I have never heard of before, like the 244 DLS, 245 Transfer, 164 and 264 TE, and others. I have not collected from the 300 or 400 series as I do not know much about those cars.
Here is a link to my flickr photos, and you can refer to my sets or my main photo collection to see some of the items I have collected.

My 200 series collection is getting a bit out of date, and I will have a new photo up shortly. I also collect 200 series steering wheels and horn pads of other models too.
Here is a photo of emblems I am looking for at present, although I have just acquired a 245 Transfer early rear emblem

I wonder what badges (if any) are fitted to chassis number 1651360001

Perhaps Saintjohn can show us photos?

The newer 240 badges/emblems should be availble from volvo i would think? have you tried them?
If Volvo has "junked" those badges they go to Genuine Classic Parts
http://global.gcp.se/ on that site you can search all parts with the orginal parts number and find those numbers in the online parts catalog.

245 Transfer is a very rare car but i c them from time to time in traffic often used by young people as "partvans" and looking like junkie-cars,but they never have the emblems left on them :(

LeBreak i would think is a french "special model" so maybe try searching there or in Canada?

221 is amazon estate 1962-64 and shouldent be that hard to find in sweden at least.

The gold Volvo is early amazon rear badge from 1957-59 i think.

The "red" 164 i have no idea about maybe a single carb model with less hp for tax-reasons in some markets? never saw them on a car in sweden at least.

the 142GT is a "special model" for US but i think you knew that already.

Im sorry but i do not belive they made badges for the 165 because there was never such a car!

All the 165´s are special built so to go trough the troble to make emblems just for two-three cars is unlikely.

And to educate you on the 142GT and the 144GT
There was never any such car built by Volvo.

In Sweden all the GT stuff was accesories and thats why they are so rare!
Not many people accesoriesed their car with all the stuff, maybe a few cars got most the stuff at the dealer but i would guess that almost every car got that with their probably younger second owner.

In US there was a dealer that made a few GT-cars with the emblem/badge that hinterland is looking for

I have many car/accesories-brochures for Volvo 140/164 if some1 wants to see something special!
There is also some brochures availble in PDF at the Swedish Volvo 164 Clubs page:
