Volvo Owners Club Forum - C70 convertible stuck roof latches

Hi all,

I recently obtained a 2000 C70 softtop and have been absolutely loving it. I have however encountered my first problem with the roof.

After a day of top down driving i went to put the roof back up and everything went well till the hooks in the back part of the roof with the glass didn’t get caught by the catches in the body. i tried multiple times and eventually the latches caught, but it didn’t pull the roof down and taught that last inch or so and has since been stuck.

The top is able to move but can’t because the latches won’t let the back part with the hooks go. Manually disconnecting the system and operating the roof myself to suck it closed that last inch did work, but if i try to open it manually I can’t open it more than said inch because even though I can tell it’s unlatching the roof hatch cover, it can’t move up and binds because the back part of the roof won’t unlatch from the catches.

I have an appointment with a volvo mechanic in two weeks, but was hoping to maybe gather some more insight or ideas as to how this might be fixable.
