Climate control

Hello from a newbie, I am looking for advice on the climate control unit of my 2010 v70 2d. I recently left drivers window slightly open, and it rained heavily, Drivers seat and door panel controls soaked. Consequently climate control unit has stopped working. No blower/demistor/rear window heater/menu buttons working. Took it to Volvo dealers, guy had a very quick look and said it would need to be booked in for investigation. Quoted between £400 to £800 which I cannot afford. I need some advice on how to proceed, fuses/relays/ locations. Is there a way to reset climate control. Thanks for taking the time to read this. John

A plea to someone local with a VIDA/DiCE diagnostic unit that can see if the car has reported what the problem might be in its fault log. If no one responds, buy your own VIDA/DiCE on line as the clone units are cheap and you can run them on a laptop, search above and see posts about setting up VIDA.

I agree with that, but VIDA is a bit of a faff to set up and the software isn't particularly intuitive to use.

I'd take the vehicle to a good independent Volvo specialist. Taking an 11-year-old car to a main dealer isn't really appropriate if you care for your wallet.

I sell laptops with Vida already set up so there's no installation. Lots of Vida knowledge out there too.

OP, start a new thread in the General Section titled "Vida Help on the Wirral Please" or similar for a wider audience or you're welcome for a free read with my Vida kit to get you some answers but I'm a bit of a distance away in Cheshire.

Hello and thanks for your time to read this. I have a Lexia OBD II interface which I used with software for Peugeot/Citroën vehicles some years ago. Do you think it would work with VIDA software. Thanks John

I'm not saying no but the only interfaces I've come across which work with Vida is the VCX Nano and Dice.

No it will not work as Lexia/Peugeot Planet 2000 is configured for Peugeot and Citroen cars. It isn't just a reader but, like VIDA for Volvos, a diagnostic system with a database of repair strategies that appertain only to PSA vehicles. I had Peugeot 406 V6 Coupes for 15 years but when I changed to Volvo I changed my diagnostic kit to VIDA/DiCE. Both are old clones of the genuine systems but VIDA is slightly more recent.
