XC70 more expensive than newer V90
Im looking at potentially getting a XC70. I’ve found a 2016 reg with around 66k miles for about £19k, however there’s a slight doubt in my mind as I can see loads of V90s 2019 reg and newer with fewer miles for the same price or less!? (On auto trader) Am I missing something? Or is the fact that XC70 has been discontinued boosting its price? Would I get a better car buying a newer V90 for £19k?
I can’t quite figure why the XC70 is more expensive? Anyone got any insight? My requirements are really just a spacious family / dog run around, fair amount of motorway driving, the occasional adventure, but not wanting an SUV. |
It's likely just fashion. Proper cars just aren't as popular as faux trucks these days.

Demand for good XC70's has always been strong and their values are rock solid to ridiculous now.
However if you compare to the V90, you need to compare to the V90CC and I don't think you will find comparable V90CC's cheaper. If you don't need AWD you will find standard V70 cheaper. |
One thing to consider is if the XC70 is a VEA engined 4 cylinder you will be better off buying the later 2019 V90 as the engine in later cars will have more of the modifications and improvements. 2016 is prime for oil consumption issues.
If the XC70 is a 5 cylinder then get it bought! |

Massive variation on prices on XC70 from 2010 to 2016. The vea ford 4 cylinder engine is oK, but the 5 cylinder is preferred by most for various reasons.
£19k for a 2016 car is insane. Was seeing 2010-2012 xc70 in good to excellent condition for £4-8.5k earlier in the year. |
