C70 - T5 - Doors opening whilst driving

Hi all,

Only had the car for a week and have noticed that whilst driving the doors unlock / open. I first notice the interior light goes on and either the pasenger or drivers door is open / message on dash.

Just happened today both passenger and drivers door suddenly opened.

I first thought it was the auto lock, so I switched that all off but no it still happens.

Anyone had this ? Is there a sensor some where that opens the door in emergency ?

So searching around this seems to be another common fault with these C70s.

The door locks become dry with grease and the suggestion is to wash them first with brake fluid cleaner, then grease them up. Failling that it's a new door latch.

First week of ownership and I have :
SRS / airbag in door high resistance
Failed head light / ballast
unlocking doors
Rotten rear exhaust

However, I still love the car :-)

It is, but it's generally a low-tech fix as you indicate

this door lock maintenance need doing on a regular basis wash out old grease with wd40 or similar. work the lock open and close door several times then re grease with white lithium grease . also when temp is well below zero the door will open but not close ie lock frozen . not ideal when trying to go to work i allways keep a can of wd in the house for these events in winter.

Private sale, and I did now it had issues which was reflected in the price. So can't complain really 😁

My driver's door latch has become a night mare. It opens and doesn't close. So I need to replace it.

Looking at parts there seems to be keyless and non keyless door latches. I use my fob to open the door and use the key to start it. So I'm assuming mine is non keyless type lock ?

if you have the key less system the door will open with a pull of the handle if the key is close ie in your pocket or bag and lock with a touch of the button on the handle .

Open the door and grip it at the bottom corner edge, now attempt to lift it upwards, if it resists it's ok if it moves your door pins are shot and this could be why the door isn't staying shut, try the regrease first though.

Hi ninet.

I've tried that 😁. No movement at all in the door.

The door shuts if I slowly close it. If I slam it or shut it with any sort of force then it sort of bounces out and locks ajar.

I have performed the brake fluid and oil cure. I've even taken the lock unit out and ensured everything is free and well oiled. At one point I thought the issue was due to the cable to the inside door latch. This looked too long and bent down meaning that was pressuring the cable and making the lock open.

I'm now looking at new locks.
