No More Polestar Engineered models!!
After taking my MY20 XC60 Polestar Engineered in for its second service today, I thought I'd have a chat with the sales team to discuss its possible replacement as the new MY23 T8's have been blessed with a bigger battery and more powerful electric motor, both of which would make the drive much more useful, however, to my disappointment, the sales guy informed me that the Polestar Engineered (along with the Momentum, R-design and Inscription specs) are being dropped from the line-up and being streamlined into 3 specs (Core, Plus and Ultimate as previously reported in other posts).
None of the new specs will include the key options (for me anyway) used on the Polestar Engineered models as these will apparently be left for the Polestar brand to use on their fully electric cars. As such, any replacement of our current car will not be in the Volvo brand so looks like I will be heading elsewhere for my next car. Oh well, back to the drawing board trying to find the next workhorse I suppose!! |
Does anyone think there will be any future Volvo Polestar Engineered Models? Maybe such models would be fully electric seeing as Polestar are electric and Volvo is heading the same way?

I don’t think there will be, what with Volvo going fully electric in the near future.
I suspect they’ll want to avoid any cross-over between the two brands. |
Chinese are killing Volvo... I also say often that this Volvo that I have for now, will be my last Volvo. I don't pretend to sell it in the next 3 to 4 years or so but when the time comes... I won't replace with another Volvo.
Volvo is a good brand but it's miles and miles away from the German brands ( including Porsche) Let's face the facts. It's no way near them globally speaking. And Chinese orientation for the brand will put Volvo in a very specific shelf for also a very specific buyer stereotype. I'm out. |

My next car will be a Merc or a Bmw. But my family always had bmw in these last 30 years or so. Since the 3 series to the 4 series and 5 series we had a few. My brother, my father. So I guess that I'll be the first buying a Merc. And... I wouldn't like to die before I buy a Porsche. It's on my list and it's a matter of time. In 10 years from now, I don't know how many years from now, but I'll be damned if I won't buy one. All my cars I bought them new. I also know that cars are never an investment ( yes I know there are exceptions) but rather a passion. For me they are a passion. Since little kid. And to buy one new...you choose the car as you wish, with the extras that fit you and... that inside smell of brand new car is always something I love when I pick up the car at the dealership. I would absolutely love to own the PORSCHE 911 (992) TURBO S 😍🥰😍🤩 |
I came to Volvo from over 10 years of Merc ownership, and although I think the Volvo is as good in a lot of areas, it is let down in many others, and the longer I own it, the more I see it's inadequacies. It pitches (and prices) itself against the big German brands, but once you get to know it, it's miles away from that.
First and last Volvo for me. I'll either go back to Merc, or go to another Marque depending on what is around at the time. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the car, but I don't love it, and I don't enjoy driving it in the same way I did the Mercs. |
