140 rear axle 1974 wanted!
1 Attachment(s)
Hello there,
I'm in need of an axle for my 1974 145 as the original is getting noisy. It MUST be a late one with the "1310" flange for the prop and hole spacings of 41.3mm and 51.1mm on the flange. I do not know the ratio but my car is a manual so I would prefer an axle from another manual car rather than an auto. The most ideal thing would be an axle from a running/driving car which could be tested but a "known" axle would also be OK. I would consider buying a complete car with a good axle. I only need the diff in it's casing so brakes etc are not important. I am in North Yorkshire but can collect from anywhere in the UK. I am happy to pay sensible money depending on the provenance of the axle. Let me know if you can help please! Cheers Simon P.S. I have plenty of early 140 axles if anyone is in need! |
Simon,
Wowie, great looking 145. I might be able to help, as my late 145 is doing the rounds for spares at the moment. I'm getting it back to Wiltshire after the New Year. I might have to ask for 1st option if you ever sell your 145 as a condition. Incidentally, did you ever get that 242gt from Milford Haven that you helped to rescue in 2000 back on the road ? If you'd like to email directly, its simoncordery@btinternet.com Simon |
I am of course assuming that you are the Simon from Unimogs in Lancs !

Still looking....
I hope that someone can help! Cheers Simon |
Hi Simon,
I have a diff from my 164E (1973) which has done 80k miles. It was only removed in order to fit the LSD. Would that enable you to get your original axle rebuilt? I also know a good axle man in Halifax, if you can't find one more locally. All the best John |
