Fuel flap actuator

Hi all! First post so here goes. I've got a V40 d4R 2014.
Today I noticed my fuel filler cap lock motor died.

Obviously there is the green release cord inside the rear right wheel arch so I can use that to slide the lock pin in/out when I fill up (once every maybe 3 weeks).

I sprayed the pin with wd40 and wiggled pin in out a lot but that didn't work and there is no noise at all from the motor.

I checked the 10a fuses in slots 70/83 in the board below the glove box and fine (manual says these 2 are 'central locking/fuel filler cap') and they are OK.

I removed the single torx bolt from the flap side and the soundproofing from inside wheel arch but then couldnt see how to get the lock unit out. It's behind a structural plate, and doesn't appear to be a way in from the filler cap side.

Anybody got any ideas either what to check next or how to get the motor out so I can check/replace that?

Thanks

Having a similar issue with my 14 v40 D3, I just filled the tank and went to put in some additive in and the metal cap won't open, the fuel flap opens fine, but now the part where you put the fuel nossle in won't open.

Any ideas.

Sorry, only just seen this. Unclip the wiring connector from the lock motor inside the boot, behind the side trim panel. With the filler flap open (use the green pull cord if the motor won't unlock) you need to remove the filler cap from its hinge by prising behind the end of the hinge with a small screwdriver to release the tang that hold it in place. Then remove the screw from the edge of the flap arm and rubber gasket assembly around the filler pipe. It's this screw that holds the motor assembly in place.

You need to gently get the rubber gasket over the end of the filler pipe and release the assembly so that you can remove it completely. There are some clips on the back that hold it in place, which have to be accessed from inside the wheelarch. Easiest to see what you are doing from beneath the car with the wheel removed.

With the surround removed, you can tilt the filler pipe towards the front of the car slightly, allowing clearance to pull the lock motor through into the wheelarch.

I wouldn't recommend relying on the green pull (plastic) cord to open the flap repeatedly for any length of time. it's very flimsy, and whilst it will just about release the flap in an emergency, with care, it will very likely snap off sooner or later. Don't ask me how I know
