Jaguar Wheels on V70
Morning all,
I have a set of Jaguar XF wheels for my V70, The only issue I have is the wheel bolt seats are flat and not angled like The V70 ones. Has anyone tried this before and managed to find suitable bolts to use? I can’t use the Jaguar ones as they use nuts not bolts. There are plenty of M12 flat seat ones available but I’m struggling to find anything M14. Thanks for any advice you may have. |
I think most wheels have a 'well' for the shoulder of the nut or bolt to sit in, as it accurately centres the fixings of each hole, thus making sure the wheel is perfectly located. Are the Jag nuts flat then? how is the wheel centred.

Here is a link to the jag nuts. see how they have a collar that fits into the bolt hole to act as a locator, giving a snug fit. A simple M14 bolt would allow the wheel to waggle about and ultimatelty destroy it/ become very dangerous,as it would be too small for the hole. Also separate sets of washers to allow the nut to spin and not damage the surface, I think you will be very lucky to find anything. If you do, and something fails, what would the insurance say? |
I agree, I don’t think I explained myself properly.
There are bolts available that use the locating collar like The Jaguar nut but I can only find them in M12, (primarily Peugeot figment) I was just looking to see if anyone had seen an M14 equivalent. I’m not interested in trying to “bodge” something to work. If there isn’t a proper solution I won’t bother, as you said The possible ramifications of a failure isn’t worth it. Thanks. |

Second, correct me if i'm wrong but the original V70 fitment uses M14 x 1.5 wheel bolts, tapered where they make contact with the wheels? Also the Jag uses wheel nuts with M12 x 1.5 threads? If my assumptions in the second question are correct, you need something like this : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353509960003 I'm assuming you have the Jag wheel nuts, if not you'll need 20 of these too : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174849530919 You can probably find a set of 20 correct nuts more cheaply than buying 20 separately, have a look on fleabay. |
Hi Dave,
The centre bore, offset and wheel width are identical to the Volvo, I’ve already measured and test fitted everything, So I’m good there. The links you gave are very helpful, thank you. I’m just a little concerned that the M14 section of that adapter doesn’t long enough for going into the hub (12mm). The portion of thread bolt protruding through the back of original wheel, bolt setup is 25mm. Terry. |

Okay,
I think I have it sorted. Conversion studs like the ones linked above (different lengths though) I have checked the length of an original Jag stud and checked the minimum Length that M14 section should have threaded into the hub and added for the thickness of the disc. Then I’ll be using the original Jag nuts to makes sure the contact with the wheel is as it should be. Thanks all for your input. Picture attached just incase anyone is interested. They are just winter wheels and tyres and so I can get the Volvo ones sent off for diamond cutting. |

Always had mixed feelings about diamond cutting wheels, it looks good when first done but because the parts that have been diamond cut are exposed to the atmosphere, they tend to corrode quickly. Someone who walks their dogs in the same place i walk mine has a new car (21 reg, might even be a Volvo) with diamond cut wheels and they're already developing flaky bits. At the most the car is 6 months old which is sort of worrying. I've heard it's not a good idea to use clear lacquer over the diamond cut but why i don't know as that would protect it. |
Yip, I’m not a massive fan of the diamond cut.
Looks great when fresh but not long lasting. I think mine were lacquered but the water has started To “spider” behind it. Hopefully having two sets of wheels will mean I might get Longer out of the finish on the Volvo wheels as they won’t see much Of the harsh winter roads Terry. |

Hi, I think I have exactly the same issue as you had with your V70.
I have bought Jag wheels for my S80, pcd, hub offset etc all great, but I need to get the adapters you mention in your posting. I need long portion of 14mm and short portion of 12mm thread as you were suggesting. Did you manage to source anything? Could you point me in the right direction. Regards,Chris |
