2008 Volvo XC70 D5 AWD SE Geartronic £4500

My XC70 is not being used anymore as we have 2 cars at home and this one has only done 3500 miles since January so I may as well offer it for sale and if it goes it goes.

Has lots of toys, full leather, heated front seats, electric drivers seat with key memory, Bluetooth and USB/aux/iPod connections, High Performance Stereo, metal foldaway Dog guard, cruise control, auto wipers etc. Full Volvo main dealer service history until 144k miles when I serviced it with genuine Volvo items. Next service due 162k. Some of the pics were taken when I got it but it hasn't changed much, since then I've had the rear windows tinted and I'll update the thread with new images when I can, I am very busy right now so that may take a while but the car will be supplied as in the pictures, clean. In good condition all over with a few small marks, has a damaged light reflector on the rear bumper where someone hit it in a car park, few tiny stonechips etc.

Car has done 156k miles. 1 owner from new. 2011 MY large D5 badge fitted now :D 4 Pirelli Scorpian Verde tyres fitted not long ago and laser 4 wheel alignment done to the tune of over £600. MoT expires 31/01/2017. Tax £295 per year. 2008 on a 57 plate, first reg 31/01/2008. AWD system works lovely, car does not have a towbar, I fitted one and I have removed it as I use my Dad's Land Rover to pull the caravan so it's only towed a handful of times and I have already sold the towbar.

THE REASON IT'S CHEAP!!
3 things; the wheels need refurbishing due to corrosion around the valves to make them mint, the a/c is a little warm now, was fine last summer but needs a re-gas.
The car is a little down on power, it's a faulty turbo, I have codes to show. MIL is not on, no dash warnings etc and car drives fine, just a little sluggish past 3000 rpm. I was quoted £300 to fix this fault but I can't guarantee that and I'm getting married in 3 weeks so I've got no interest in fixing it so come get it while it's cheap!! I've driven it like this for ages and it's been fine, always gets you to where you need to go just accelerates a little slowly.

After the wedding once finances recover it'll be p/x'd in all probability for something else which would be a shame as I've spent a lot of money on this car since buying it and I'm only moving it on now as I'm just not using it. I've been critical of the car lately so if you think of it as a cheap project P3 for the price of a P2 you won't be disappointed. Other than the turbo it's a very nice car indeed!!

Car is on a private plate which will be taken off when the sale is agreed.

If it sells to a member I'll throw in the boot liner and the brand new unfitted aux belt guard I bought from another forumer. Also the car will be sold with 2 black key cases, right now my key is pink :)

I planned to keep the car another few years but I thought I'd try my luck now and put it up for sale, so offers in the region of £4500 are being considered but please don't be too insulting, I don't have to sell it I just want to :) That's the lowest priced P3 you'll see for sale by a mile and it's a lot of car for the money so please fire away with the questions and come get the car!!!

PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS A PROJECT CAR SOLD WITH FAULTS SO NO WARRANTY ETC ETC Please remember this, it's why it's being sold for £3000 less than a similar one on Auto Trader.

Thanks :D

I think I've spent most of the money that needs spending on this car for a while, just needs a turbo repair and you're done! It's very cheap so please bear that in mind!!! No finance owing, HPI clear etc etc.

Remember just £4500 takes this car so it's a steal at that :D

hi, can you send me a pm with your best price, i am looking for one but not sure what a new turbo would cost

kenny Jul 13th, 2016 20:53

You could have given it a good clean first!

Sasha94 Jul 13th, 2016 23:32

It is now clean so recent pictures will be added soon :) It was washed today and the 57 plate put back on ready to go.

With regards offers I have found a used turbo for the car on eBay for £115 shipped and was quoted £180 (3 hours labour) to change it hence £300 to fix so all in it would be a cheap fix with used parts. It's not even the turbo cartridge that's faulty, it's likely a wiring fault; there is no play in the turbo at all. So that being said £4500 is really the price it has to be. Even forking out £1200 odd for brand new parts fitted at a Volvo dealer makes it £5700 which is what I paid for the car 11 months ago and that was the cheapest P3 XC around then and it still would be now. Adding to what else has been spent it still makes the car good value for money.

Car is going on eBay Friday for 9 days. If it doesn't sell I may consider doing the turbo and holding on it a little longer. Amazing what cleaning the car can do ;)

re xc70

hi, i am looking for a replacement car, can you pm me your contact number thanks

volvoid Jul 14th, 2016 09:27

how does one advertise on evilbuy for 9 days ?

tt82 Jul 14th, 2016 09:37

This thread saddens me. A nice car and an even nicer member. It's pity the 2 should have to part. Fantastic car for whoever buys it though.

Sasha94 Jul 14th, 2016 11:35

You certainly used to be able to; you colour post a listing for 1,3,5,7 or 9 days. I used to like doing it over 9 as it gave people 2 weekends to view the car during the auction.

I've got to get back to work now but I'll sift through the PM's when I get a chance later. The car is advertised elsewhere but I'm getting loads of silly low offers in :( The car may have been a problem child for me but with what's been spent on it there's every chance it would now go on to provide another 150,000 trouble free miles it's just I have decided not to invest anymore money in it as I don't use it enough to justify it. Life has changed a little, we are no longer looking to expand our family in the near future and we're not adding another pet so we don't need a car this big.

Bearing all that in mind I don't have to let it go and may keep it if I don't get the price I want for it.

Thanks for all the interest, car was sold today. I decided not to sell it to a member on here after it broke down on my way home from work last night and started making some horrendous terminal sounding noises. From a quick diagnosis at the side of the road it looked like the exhaust manifold was cracked and letting gas out but there was also a considerable amount of oil leaking out of the crack. In light of this I thought it best not to inflict this cesspit of car on a member as I didn't want the hassle. The car was collected by a buyer from Facebook today for a very small sum of money as a non runner.

In total this car cost me nearly £7000 in the 11 months I had it and has ruined my finances and has affected the budget for our wedding even.

I hope none of you end up with this car, remember NB57 EWK. You have been warned!!! Its replacement probably won't be a Volvo but once I've finished work next week I'll start looking for real.

I'll be sticking around though as I like it here so you haven't seen the last of me!!!

Your experience seems to closely mirror a colleagues with a 2006 S80 D5. These P3 cars do seem rather prone to "falling to ****" at around 150k :D
