Tyre pressure monitoring

Has anybody tried either TyrePal or Steelmate after market systems. Are they reliable, do they actually work and do the tyres need rebalancing?

The tyres will need a rebalancing as you add more weight to each wheel. Some even need the tyre removed to strap it around the rim... So yes, a rebalancing will be required.

Schrader do a kit called EZ-Sensor which just replaces the valve stem on the car, and you have a little indicator to stick to the dash somewhere.

Does your car already have a broken system fitted, or is it an upgrade?

Steelmate

I gave myself the steelmate system for Christmas 2012!

Excellent with the only snags being having to take all of them off to do the monthly top up of pressures. (and wheel cleaning!) Indicator sits VERY neatly and unobtrusively in horizontal 12v socket by gear lever.

Snags: well I hear the point about balancing, but as I now only do circa 350 a month (non Mway) I haven't done this.

Plus: I can "take it with me" when the next Volvo arrives at Bhowani Towers.
