Hi all.
I keep blowing number 9 fuse as soon as I turn the key
I traced it to the Red/White wire that goes to the Light switch on the dash.
There is no evidence of a break in the wire .
Could the problem be the switch ??
Lights still work when R/W wire is disconnected from the fuse board, fuse no longer blows when this is done.

Could it be the Relay ?? I have no clue where this is located.
All kick panels have been removed to trace the wire , so everything is exposed for clarity.
Went through about 10 fuses trying to find the source .
Who has the White album and got my little pun.

I've looked at the wiring diagrams in Haynes for all years of model, and the only wire from fuse 9 is Green/White, and it goes to the Hazard light switch.

When you say the lights still work if you disconnect the wire, do you mean the hazard lights still work (? How?) or do you mean the ordinary lights?

A break in the wire wouldn't blow the fuse - it has to mean the opposite - something is shorting to earth, or the item supplied is drawing too much current for the fuse rating.

Fuse 9 in my Haynes and my car ('77)are Red/White .
(1) 0.75mm From fuse to ignition switch terminal 5, (2) 1.0mm from fuse 9 to fuse 4
(3) 1.0mm from fuse 9 to headlight switch terminal 15.

Yours is an early car - clearly different then.

Whether it is the Ignition, or the light switch causing the fault is still to be determined.
Later models had a Headlight relay as an addition, early models only had the "step relay" under the bonnet.
