Cleaning up the engine bay over the weekend and I had used up the normal Gunk cleaner:~
Tried this one shown as the reports had been quite positive and at a descent price, although I initially didn't built my hopes up I have been proved wrong- its a descent effective product at a good price for 5Llts. Bob. |
It's all I use for the purpose, too. Cheap and effective, whatever the gradient :)

Off topic, but what's the shiny silver on the underside of your bonnet? |
No problem:~
The product under the bonnet is self adhesive sound deadening- purchased in a sheet form and cut against a template shape to suit etc. From memory via ebay (UK seller) provided the metal is clean it sticks well-you now have another cleaning job! Regards Bob. |
I use the same degreaser before painting / welding - it is very good. A capful used neat straight onto driveway oil patches also does an amazing job especially if you scrub it in and leave it overnight, then attack it with a jetwash.
Do you have a link to the sound deadening? I had to throw all of mine out, it was completely rotten. (Edit - I'm actually referring to the foam padding on the bulkhead under the fuel lines. Yours doesn't look OEM?) |
The bulkhead insulation is a product called Hardura :~
https://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/produ...ura-felt-black https://www.segalmotortrimmings.net/search.php/hardura The above link is for two classic car upholstery suppliers (others exist) and generally a good place to look- it now comes with a felt backing so a good soaking with a wax rust treatment is worthwhile, some years back it had a removable foam back but I've not seen this for some time. The edge trim surround is also available from the above and it's a standard panel edge type that is pushed/pressed on etc. Hope it helps. Bob |
