DSTC after new bering hub
 

hello,i have a problem with my DSTC light flash on dash bord and slow down car after replace not orginal volvo wheel bering hubs front right one and back one,i get the parts from e bay and they said the parts for volvo.car is volvo s40,2.0diesel.2006 reg.thanks for help

either you have broken a sensor , did you remove them before the work?
OR the bearings dont have the magnetic pulse rings in them , Best start by replacing the bearings with genuine parts ... which is always the wisest choice in the first place ...

I would not agree that genuine parts are the best choice. Especially Volvo seem to take a mick with prices of their parts. Pattern part can save you a lot of money, in some cases as much as 50%. You just need to make sure they the right parts and are not somehow coded to the car, which I can't see to be a case with a bearing as it is just a lump of metal parts. I thought that stability control uses ABS sensor inputs so I would first check the sensor and the pulser ring.

You may well have been lucky in your non genuine parts as an individual , but you wouldn't have bought many in your life , but my 40 years of experience as a professional tells me that is NOT the case in general , nothing but trouble in more ways than one are non genuine parts ... I learned this a long time ago personally.
The bearing is NOT just a lump of metal . it has a magnetic inducer built in that's probably what the trouble is if the sensor wasn't broken when installing the bearing .

Well if this is a case of in-built inducer, that's a very cheeky way on behalf of Volvo to ensure usage of their parts. A lot of Volvo cars conduct is a bit below the belt to ensure constant milking of the customers, but same can be said about nearly every manufacturer nowadays. I didn't know about the inducer ring. Why would they complicate a humble bearing to such extent is beyond me... Except to make sure demand for genuine parts.

Its not volvo specific, it is industry standard these new bearings , can you tell me ANY manufacturer who supplies spares cheaply ? Citroen parts are FAR more expensive than volvo and ford are no longer reasonable either ..
Also motor factors prices are creeping up now .. luckily you dont often need new spares for your volvo especialy a 2008 one . unless perhaps it's a condensor , then i WOULD say get a non genuine one !

Just had a read on the net and looks like "smart bearings" are becoming a standard in the automotive industry. The era of cheap tinkering and DIY repairs is coming to en end, cars are becoming overly complicated and main dealer dependant. On the other hand old cars are legislated and taxed off the roads, and I can see that in a few years time ( just look up anti tamper euro legislation) we won't be able to work on our cars at all. Oi vey...

Show us those bearing pawel, do you have a link to the ebay store selling them?
you might have bought bearings for a car equipped with STC only and not DSTC.
