Volvo S40 2.0 MY2001 - breaking

1 Attachment(s)
Sadly, here I have my beloved Volvo S40 2.0 MY2001 for parts or repair. It has developed some sort of engine fault which initially was rather quiet rattling coming from the engine within 2-3k rev range and it lasted like that for couple of months or so, but today in the morning it suddenly became really really loud and scary knocking sound right from the engine start (imagine heavy hammer hitting a block of metal). Basically, the engine has gone bust. My garage has suggested whole engine replacement rather than fixing the current one, however I was intending to sell the car within about 6-8 months anyway and I didn't want to spend too much money on it.

The car was rather well maintained inside out since I've bought it back in June 2008. It has 134k miles on the clock, out of which approx. 30k I made myself. I've kept my personal service history (attached to this post for anyone interested), plus I've got service book and receipts, MOT certificates etc. from previous owners too. I'd prefer to sell it off in single piece for spares or repair, however I'm also happy to break and sell single parts from it. I am not very experienced in breaking parts - I'm OK with simple'ish parts but for more advanced things (ie. from the engine compartment) ideally you'd need to come and take it off yourself.

Awaiting offers and questions, most preferred way to contact is via email adlorenz [at] gmail [dot] com, or within this thread. I am able to rip parts off the car pretty much only during weekends or late evenings, so it might take a while before given part becomes available for delivery. I will accept Paypal payments for parts and postage to UK addresses only - please contact me to find out part availability and delivery costs. The car is located in Feltham (Heathrow Airport area) if anyone wants to come and pick parts up in person.

Do you have a drivers side dashboard speaker and a drivers side door speaker in good working condition?

Yep, I haven't had any issues with them.

What price do you want for the front lower bumper splitter?

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly do you mean by bumper splitter?

Its the 3 piece plastic splitter/spoiler than attaches to the bottom of the front bumper.

Aah, now I get it - thanks. I say £50 for whole splitter.

Can you confirm if its a Genuine OEM part or an after market Replica? The OEM parts have the piano black on the corners so I guess its a replica. If it is a replica, IIRC they retail new at £50 so that price is a bit too much for me. Thanks anyway.

I've bought it from someone who has painted it all silver before, hence no black corners. I have fitted splitter myself, hence I can confirm it is genuine. Actually, I could drop price to £40 as splitter is slightly scratched in one of the corners after close encounter with tall kerb (forgot to mention this before). What do you say?
