General Loss of Power
104k miles XC90 sport
Hi Guys, have the following problem - hopefully someone has some advice. Starts ok straight away and idles ok. Engine service light came on a few days ago but no noticeable difference. Couple of days later soot full warning came on for a day but went after a 200mile journey generally blasting it in higher gears and with some redex DPF cleaner in the tank. On the same journey experience general loss of power expecially going up hills. Have the following error codes so want to deal with the less expensive first. ECM-135F MAF sensor - signal too low ECM-1507 Turbo control - too low pressure ECM-28E0 Heated oxygen sensor - signal too low The following are now showing amber light so currently within limits I guess ECM-2B10 Particle filter temp sensor - Faulty signal ECM-2810 Heated oxygen sensor - signal missing ECM-2A30 Particle trap blocked ECM-6662 Glow relay control - faulty signal I can clean the MAF sensor easy enough and test the signal first. But noticed that is a lot of oil from the turbo return pipe iunder the engine - wondering if a leak here could cause these issues? Any ideas greatfully received before I start buying expensive parts. Thanks |
Definitely sounds like a boost leak to me.
Thoroughly check all of the pipes particularly that one that runs under the engine and also the orange seal where it meets the resonator box. This also has a direct impact on the Soot Full issue. |
Ok Thanks - on it now....come to think about it, I did here a bit of a whooshing sound on accelerating which may suggest a leak.

I have found the problem...both orange seals split and the resonator box just fell off the top seal when I took the bracket off. Hopefully that is an easy fix to any other error codes.

Does anyone know if this would cause the popping sound from the oil filler cap? I have had this for a while. I know it is a vacuum issue but is this all connected?
