Kia Sorento, HOW MUCH!!!

A friend of mine went to look at a new Kia Sorento this morning, the KX4 is something stupid like £41k! How can you pay that for a Kia!! He could have a very nice XC60 for that kind of money.

Lamp Swinger Jul 11th, 2015 20:18

That's funny my XC60 cost that new and it only comes with a poxy 3 year warranty.

I take it, m2srt, you have actually owned or driven a Kia Sorento in the past?

There not quiet the flimsy piles of crap they used to be,

Altho the price now sort of reflects that,

Going the same way as vw did with skoda, was once there budget brand and now the same price as its german counterparts

I suggest you look at aldi at the weekend where most "middle class people" are and it will pretty much mostly be Kia they really are that similar now....

But the problem with these types of 'upstarts' is (1) depreciation, and (2) engines are invariably older technology than the European competition. Consequently, economy and CO2 emissions are inferior. OK, CO2 is ironically not going to be such a big issue after April 2017, but until then it is.
The Kia does get a number 1 review in What Car, but if I was looking at a seven seater in the sub-XC90 class, I would be tempted elsewhere, LR Discovery for example. Some folk may also consider the Kia a cheap brand (even at £41k). In the WC review, both the LR and Nissan tested do have rather more 'street cred' than the Kia (or Hyundai). Both LR and Nissan have their faults, so as ever, no straightforward answers.

No-one has ever written a £41k cheque for a Kia just like no one has ever bought a sofa for full price at DFS.

It's called business. Same thing with Skoda. Start 'em off "cheap", ramp up the quality and price. Kia have done same.

True, but the taxman only recognises P11D list prices, especially pertinent after April 2017 !

Exactly. So steer clear of being hit for a £41k car when no one would ever pay that.

Good old marketing, everyone pays full price for a sofa at DFS, I just feel sorry for those that pay the inflated price which should be illegal in my opinion.
