Sticky fingers
Do anyone know how to get rid of the sticky substance on the amazon steering wheel? On hot wet days my fingers look like liquorice sticks

Hi,
If the handwipes don't work for you, then perhaps try 99% IPA ensuring you just do a small test area first to make sure it doesn't harm the wheel. It evaporates virtually within a few seconds, I use it in my day job for de-greasing prior to decorating, and the better half nicks it for cleaning the grease that accumulates on cooker extractor. Relatively cheap online or you may find local to you https://www.amazon.co.uk/Isopropanol...50660574&psc=1 Cheers Steve |
If the above don't work, try painting with clear varnish, to seal it.

It sounds as if the plastic coating has worn through in places. Good wheels with no cracks and wear are getting hard to find but worth keeping an eye open for one. They can be properly refurbished, expensive, but filling the cracks and giving the wheel several coats of 2 pack, colour and clear, can brink it back to life for a few years. See YouTube for methods.
Some good lace on leather covers are available if they are to your taste. |
I will try with Isopropanol. Will let you know
