ABS Module
Hi there,
Do you have to remove the ABS Pump and Module to repair the module? |
Nope, its a bit awkward as the small torx screws face downwards, but you can remove the controller ECU from the pump without removing the pump or disturbing the brake lines.
Once removed, it is possible to drive the car still - but obviously it'll be minus the ABS system. Brakes will work fine otherwise. But I'm not sure how you'd stand insurance wise ;) |
When I did mine I took the module off of the pump part in the car, but if I remember correctly one of the screws has limited access and I ended up using a torx bit in a 6mm ring spanner rather than the regular driver or ratchet.

The tool needed is a reverse torx, but a 4mm socket on a 1/4" drive usually works. Removing the air box and pipe makes life easier
|
Make sure you use the correct size Torx socket, and keep the socket under upwards pressure.
I think it was E5. Can anyone else confirm? If you strip the head on one of the bolts, life gets much more difficult. HTH Steve |
Yes it is E5
The bolt looks like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182475366826 Socket is like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/sourcingmap.../dp/B07BQTKZQ9 |
