Clutch cable, 1972 1800E

According to the Volvo manual, the bearing bolt should be removed from the clutch pedal when disconnecting the cable at this end. Is this really necessary, or can one merely remove the cable securing nut to disconnect the cable from the pedal?

Some good notes here from Ron, maybe help ?
I would have thought you could just remove the nut to remove cable

VF;

I agree with Powen, although it has been a while since I replaced a Clutch Cable...loosen nut (20), unhook from Pedal...

Thanks for reference, Powen!

Cheers

I suppose it would be simpler to remove just the cable retaining nut, but extremely poor direct access with a socket or ring spanner would make this difficult. Maybe that is why the manual indicates removal of the bearing bolt to allow easier access.

If it takes an hour to remove the nut and that needs to be done then so be it. Some jobs are easier than others and old cars do teach you patience if nothing else! The easy way to do a job is often only apparent after you have done it the hard way. :regular_smile:
