240 GLT Estate for sale.
7 Attachment(s)
Here is a rather tatty old 240, been used as my daily drive for the past five years, always reliable starter and drives nicely. The MOT runs through to end of October and Taxed till end of Feb 2014. Bodywork is showing a few rust marks but generally sound and the vehicle is dry inside.
The blower motor has not worked for years, the front windows need the switch fixing, motors run if connected direct to the battery. The side trim bars are present, but always falling victim to Devon hedges and presently not attached. I have run out of the little toggle thingies which hold them on. These are still available from local Volvo dealer. The front seats are worn with a tear in the drivers seat. I could go on but will leave you to ask the questions. I have recently acquired a 940 estate and so this has to go. Prefer it to go to some one who will find use as spare or repair so I am open to offers, looking for somewhere over the scrap value, the remaining 7 months tax is a matter of negotiation. If no reasonable offers it will go up on ebay on Sunday. |

Hi Man very very intersted. How much are you looking for. Also is there anything else i should about it. whats the state of the suspension n weres the rust coming through? joe

Are you sure it's a GLT as certain usual bits on a glt are missing?
Plus it has no glt badge. The headlight chrome should be black for instance. I notice it has glt wheels and glt door cards and black leather seats. Not sure the last glt's had electronic fuel injection either? Regards Brian. |
I was gonna say, I hate crapping on anybody's for sale ad, but the chrome trim, no leather gearstick gaiter, LH2.4 injection engine, badging and and age say 240GL with some options to me. Still, looks like a very nice bargain buy for the money!

De later GLT does have the B230F engine. this one also has the big Tacho (rpm) clock which would lead me to believe that perhaps some black trim has been exchanged with the chrome trim. Possilbly the stabilizer bars will confirm whter it indeed is a GLT?

Both Cartell.ie and the My Car Check iPhone app have H32ARR listed as a 14/12/1993 Volvo 240 GLT so the incorrect trim on the front end says to me that the car has had a bump in it's past which was fixed using parts from a more common trim level - This could have have been nothing more than a minor bump but it would be worth taking someone along that knows what to look for on chassis legs and the likes. Incorrect gear gaiter says to me that the leather one was torn or generally clapt out and was again replaced with a lower spec part to tidy the car up.

Hi enthusiasts,
amongst the general banter of which exact model this 240 is. Does anyone actually want to give the man some reddies, as I think the seller just wants to sell for spares or repairs a.s.a.p. Or is it now sold?................cos although it's 120 miles away and could be refurbed by a keen member the suggestion of a Volvo 240 for little more than scrap value feels tempting and would make my 240 spares store a guaranteed life support for my 92 240 SE's future. No offence intended to anyone including the seller if the car has potential interested parties wishing it to stay as a daily driver. |
200 miles from me, do want!

Gone
Vehicle now sold to brokenbritian.
The vehicle had not been in a bump or had trim changed whilst in my ownership. I do have the original delivery slip from Volvo (Sweden) who delivered it direct to a Colonel in the British Army on the Rhine, which might explain the non-standard fittings. |
