S60 II 2011. aux belt snapping. Shredding
Hi .. 5 weeks ago whilst driving on the motorway my aux belt snapped and got under the cam belt and destroyed my cylinder head.. luckily I repaired the car myself but still cost £2000.. with replacement head etc.. cars been back on road for 2 weeks and only done 400 miles and the belt has snapped once again.. luckily no other damage has been done.. but why is the belt snapping.. or shredding..

Perhaps an obvious question, are all pulleys and tensioners, water pumps etc, free running and properly aligned? Belt tensioned correctly? Not wanting to be discourteous to your abilities.

As well as alignment check for play or wear in the mountings of any item that the belt runs.

just to give an update on this.. I found that the alternator pulley which is supposed to be a clutch pulley is siezed.. So i purchased a new pulley and replaced it.. fingers crossed this will now be ok
