now, the beauty of the SC801, is it allows a FRONT connection also. it is the only model that has a space ready made for it. Other units require some modification
if you want a front connection, then you need to remove the front panel. Start by removing the two round knobs, and the three sliders Then remove this screw on each side [total of 2] |

next, you need to use a flat blade, and prize off the front. there are 3 places on the top and 3 on the bottom that need to be prized off. Then the front will simply pop away

now turn over the face, and remove the white plastic section by unclipping it
Now decide what connector to use. I recommend a small 90 degree one as it fits perfectly. in the 801 there is a pre made hole, which was designed for INFA RED REMOTE this was never fitted to UK models, so there is a blank fitted instead so simply remove the blanking plug and you have a hole of a PERFECT size for the 3.5mm jack |

now once the blank is out, you will need to trim away the sides so your socket fits.
|
2 Attachment(s)
now wire up your socket, left right and earth, and fit to the front. refit the White section, and then re-assemble the front to the main unit
While doing this, you will have to feed up the cables, to come through where the tape flap is Now this is where the size of socket is crucial. if you select the wrong size or shape, it will foul on the front, and not re-assemble correctly |

Now as before with the REAR cables, simply connect these to the 2 cables that you soldered to the bottom board. If you have a REAR CONNECTION too, then simply connect all 3 together, not forgetting the Earth from the front, to that earthing point
re-assemble and thats it, you have a working FRONT AUX, again, selecting TAPE will allow you to play what ever is connected DONT FORGET since the tape deck is removed and we are connecting direct to the circuit board, we have NO INTERFERANCE. |
3 Attachment(s)
and you will finally have some rear AUX connections
I use these for my IPOD kit, as it hides the connection and keep the STOCK Volvo head, but allows my IPOD playing |
