V70 Load Bay - best way to store shopping?

Apologies if this is considered an inane question, but how do you all secure shopping in the back of your V70's?

We haven't had a car with such a vast load area before, and on returning from the supermarket last night our shopping was strewn everywhere! I've noticed the little adjustable hooks in the load bay, and also the little "eyes" half way up the load area at the back but I'm unsure about how to use them!

I know that some VW/Audi/Skodas have adjustable bars that increase/decrease the load area for this purpose - have any of you come up with an ingenious way of solving my conundrum?

You have the load divider in the floor, lift this and hook bags into the hooks, it does work very well. I rarely use it myself as I use the bootliner/mat (have a dog) so I tend to load heavy goods forward and lighter behind it and spread it out a bit, seems to work fine but then again we are 4 in the family so maybe if you are 2 you will not buy as much, in that case flip up the divider instead. The fixings on the sides are I suppose to be used with any rope or similar but you can buy add-on fixings with hooks (not cheap). Keep a bungee in the boot, I always do and occationaly use it if I only have the odd item in the boot.

I must be being completely dense, but what is the load divider and how do I use it?

I've bought some bungees on Amazon - having owned a Transit previously I'm well versed in their uses and charms!

I think Peter has pretty much covered everything in his post.

Like him I have a dog which is in the car quite often, so I have an aftermarket load cover (Hatchbag) and thus my load divider has never been used. (The Hatchbag load cover isn't as good as the Volvo item and my 4 hooks on the side under the windows are covered as well, not even letting me do his bungee cord idea.) For that reason if I'm only getting a couple of bags of shopping, I tend to throw it in the front passenger footwell. Because of the way the WHIPS seats retract in a rear collision, Volvo do advise against storing items in the rear footwells, though I'm sure a loaf of bread and some milk wouldn't stop the system working.

For a V60 but the V70 is similar

Hmmm, I'll have to go and have a play with that...

From your previous thread (when you posted pics of the car) it looks as though you don't have the lift up divider for hooking shopping bags.
If I have too many bags for the lift up divider, then I stack them left to right with heaviest bag at end on right - they usually stay upright once you've learnt the art of packing!

Why not try a load net with elasticated straps which can clip onto the various restraint points in the car. You can buy fold up "crates" which are flat when not being used and quickly fold out to give you lightweight crate which you can put your shopping into.

Alternatively when I take a load in my SWB pajero I use buckle straps or ratchet straps which can take 1 tonne! But I don't think you are there just yet!

Yeah, I definitely don't have any kind of divider.

Can they be retrofitted, or is it part of the boot floor?

In fact, is this what everybody's talking about:
