Change Your Diesel Filter

5 Attachment(s)
Just changed my diesel filter and couldn't believe what I found, I've never seen a filter so distorted due to being clogged, when removed it still held diesel internally that took around 30 mins to drain. The date stamp is 13/12 so it could have been a while since it was changed , the car has main dealer history up to 92,000 miles in 2017. The car now idles a little quieter and has a bit more go. Moral of the story is make sure you change your fuel filter on time. Here are some pictures.

I will bang on about the importance of this for ever. It caused me enough grief and falsly diagnosed readings! Ergo money!!!

Thanks for that Org!

The thing is it only took around 30 minutes once I had all the kit together, I have watched a number of youtube videos and everyone gets covered in diesel all I can say is take your time and use a piece of hose on the drain plug it saves a lot of mess and makes for a cleaner job.

I don't recall getting covered in diesel so you must have missed my video. :)

Just compared your vid with the situation on my XC60. Whilst it looks like the head of the nut is accessible meaning I won’t need the filter removal tool, the filter housing itself is never going to fit through the gap between anti-roll bar and the rear driveshaft. Bugger!

Nah, I just learn from my mistakes. I have been covered in diesel in the past. :)

I'd have a look in Vida for guidance but if yours is an SPA platform, it won't be featured unfortunately.
