Steering rack availability?
Hi, anyone know of any decent leads for a replacement rack for my 850? I can find them for left hand drive, AWD, but right hand drive and FWD seem to be like hens teeth? Tried Skandix, PFV, even ECP.. Appreciate the heads up of a decent supplier. 👍🏻

Search other threads - there's a recommended place up in the NW I wish I'd used rather than trying to get a Unicorn Brand rack for a S60...

Hi there. Hope you don't mind me bumping this thread but I too need a replacement rack for my 1999 V70. I can find two sources online - Lion Automotive https://www.lionautomotive.co.uk/cat.../latest/page/2 and Synergy Automotive Parts on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114777631509?
Any advice or recommendations on which to go for? OP - did you go for one from Lion Automotive and how was it? Also is there any fitting difference between the SMI and TRW racks for these cars or are they fully interchangeable. Out of interest were there any quality differences between the two OEM manufacturers? Finally I've been quoted £260 for fitting/fluid/alignment from a local garage with a good reputation. Does this sound reasonable (I do most of my own repairs and have replaced a steering rack before at home on a Saab 900 many years ago but it was hell and I swore I would never do one again!) |
