XC60 Volvo app pairing

Hi all!

New here, I've just got a new (to me) 2022 XC60 (with Android infotainment).

I've two small issues I'm trying to figure out and some tips would be greatly appreciated.

1) Software is stuck at v2.8, the Volvo release notes sites show v2.11 is the latest yet mine shows it's the latest version. How do I update?

2) I cannot pair the car to the app, I get the 'Pairing cancelled by device' message when I click 'pair'. Don't think this is a key issue as I have both keys in the car and it lets me do other functions requiring all keys I.e. factory resets. Any tips on this?

Loathed to pay a dealer to resolve them....

Thanks!

If it's 2022 build, it means it's under warranty, right? You can get things like that done for free under warranty.

Do dealers update software for free inside warranty? From Googling all I see is dealers charging for the privilege......

Great if so! Apologies if it's a dumb question, this is my first 'smart' car...

The later cars with AAOS (Android Auto Operating System) have free Over the Air (OTA) software updates for the car so this should be available to do at any time.

You should really take this up with the dealership you purchased off as the current software edition running on most AAOS cars is version 2.13.1 with 2.13.3 doing its rounds on the OTA as we speak.
If your car is stuck at version 2.8 then they need to explain why its stuck there and maybe do the update for you in the workshop as going from 2.8 to current will likely be quite a large download.

One thing to check though, in the car system menu's there will be an ' Software auto update' slider option (cant remember exactly which menu its in and currently approx 4000 miles away from my car so cant check), check this is selected to 'on' otherwise the car will not auto update.

AFAIK software updates are part of an annual service. I had (first to me) service of my Volvo last year, and software was updated to latest version. I have Sensus infotainment in my car.

And any software problems are subject to warranty repair. So I think you are good, no need to pay for anything! If you contact your local dealer, they will be able to advise regarding software update and problem you are having with pairing, give them a call and see what they can do for you.

The OP's car has OTA updates (as its AAOS) which should be able to be done anywhere.
Sensus cars (like yours piorunz) require updates to be completed in the workshop by a dealer or a specialist with the correct equipment.

Yes I think you are 100% correct. In any case, OP will not be paying to have his car updated, so that is good news.

Thanks all! I will give my local dealer a call on Monday and ask them to sort it!

Double check as the Volvo App says differently.

There's been at least one AAOS update which wasn't available OTA. It required a dealer to do it.
