Key reprogramming
 

I bought a spare key (the one with the plastic end) off ebay for my 2006 C70, initially the dealer said he could program it but realised that due to the key not having a 8/16 digit number he wasn't able to.
Is this true, is there an alternative other than giving volvo £200+ for a new key?
