Instrument gauges: Volvo paint codes

Hi All!

Does anyone know the factory paint codes for;

Green & white colour of the temp and fuel gauges, please?

I’m going to refurb mine, as finding it tricky to source the face plate in good knick.

Not interested in the £150-£180 price tag of a refurbished mechanical (or electrical!) temp gauge from the online shop offerings.

Just want the gauge dial/strip to be visually useful & true.

Cheers!

I can't help:-

I'm guessing - only guessing - there was never an official code for this level of detail. I imagine you just need to find colours that are faithful to the era you are trying to replicate.

Cheers Army, appreciate the reply here!

Yeah it’s tricky, alright.

I’ve not found any reference to colour codes for instruments, smaller items like that. Fonts or similar.

As they offer refurbed temp gauges, which all look pretty newly painted but;
They confirmed by reply that they do not stock just the face plate
Nor do they know the colour codes or paint # used on the refurbs offered.

Figure someone must be painting the refurbed gauges; so I’m keen to keep hunting.

A Volvo paint code chart here

Suggests : suggests Volvo code 345 Sydney Bay Pearl promising

Might try to find a tester pot of model paints, for metal.
Primer covered already.

That said; if anyone has the answer - that’d be a terrific help too (preferred)

Cheers!

There are a few (remaining) old chaps out there refurbishing instruments - you might be able to weedle out some information from them before they retire...

...good luck - sorry I couldn't help

If you can borrow a good one and take photos there are guys on the Bay who can print you a sticky face add on. Good luck using a brush to add the temp numbers on that gauge!

While looking for something else I found an instrument cluster. The gauges look good, just a bit dusty. The fuel gauge will work, the temp has no capillary.
£70 the pair. Regards, Andy.

Cheers Andy!

I will direct message you.

Meanwhile, does the temp gauge have the mounting plate in tact still?

Hi, yes, the mounting is there, just been unscrewed from the back of the speedo.
