TD-603 rear connector wiring

Hi all

I am trying to figure out the wiring at the rear of the stock car stereo I have in a 92 240 which is a TD-603.

There is a 6-pin round din - that's the audio signals to the HA-4120 amp which is behind the shelf at bottom of the centre console. I've found wiring specs for that connector so that's not there query here...

There's also a 14-pin black connector with two rows of 7 pins staggered/offset - this is what I'm asking about.

Below is the the pin numbers, and how they appear looking at the connector poking from the car, with pins facing you (mirror this for connectors as seen looking at the stereo unit).

| 14 - 12 - 10 -- 8 -- 6 -- 4 -- 2 |-----

-----| 13 - 11 -- 9 -- 7 -- 5 -- 3 -- 1 |

Pin
6 - blue/white
7 - brown
8 - black (ground)
9 - green
10 - black (ground)
11 - yellow/black (12v with acc. on)
12 - red

Can anybody say what those other wires coming into the connector from the car loom side are for? (eg pins 6, 7, 9, 12)

All other pins on the connector have no wire into them from the loom (on my car). Looking at schematics on the web, it seems that these other pins are used for speaker connectors when the stereo does not have a separate amp, like most later 240, 700, 900 seem to.

I would like to test and work on the stereo with it out of the car, or failing that, put another stereo in, but either way, I just can't find any wiring diagram on the web that corresponds to what the wiring is in my car.

For those with a TD-613 - I think the 14-pin connector is the same.

Thanks

John

Hello,

I think your radio may be the same connection as my CR-702, as they share the same amp.

If this is the 14 pin connector that plugs into the back of the amp, page one of the attached might be useful. Note - all plugs in the diagram are viewed from the front, i.e. with wires coming out of the back.

The later diagrams were to convert to an ISO plug to install Sony/JVC etc without cutting any wires.

I think your queried pins (using your numbers) are speaker connections:

#6 LR-
#7 LR+
#9 LF-
#12 RF+

Regards
Lucien
