Have ordered my XC60...

Hi Guys (and Girls)

Just to let everyone know (in case you are interested) that I've ordered an XC60. Did it a few weeks ago now and have been reading the forum avidly but I am surprised that there aren't more XC60s mentioned!

I test drove a black XC60 at Webb's of Wychbold during a Johnson's promotion a while back and instantly fell for it!

Delivery date is planned for 12th May but may change (as it already has done already - it was originally April 22nd so it went back a few weeks). The order has now gone fixed so somewhere in a picturesque scandinavian forest, parts of my XC60 as whizzing around, floating in mid-air and are being assembled by a team of people suspended by wires! LOL!

I'm afraid to say that I'm a sucker for the optional extra's list and have nearly gone the whole hog:

XC60 D5 in SE Lux spec with soft beige leather interior and Maple Red Pearl
Geartronic
Active chassis 4C
Laminated windows
Tinted rear windows
Bluetooth telephone
Dynaudio Premium sound system
DAB radio
Rear seat audio controls
Subwoofers
Heated rear seats
Driver support pack - Adaptive Cruise Control, BLIS, LDW etc
Panoramic sunroof
Electrically adjustable passenger seat
Walnut trim
Front and rear park assist
Rear parking camera
Personal Care Communicator with Keyless entry and start
Front bumper bar
Running boards
Rear skid plate

I think thats all of it! The dealership are affectionately calling it the Christmas Tree cos it's got everything on it!

I think I've been very patient for me but am getting a little fidgety now cos I can't wait for it to get here!

I know it sounds strange, but I cant wait for the fuel economy! Im currently driving around in an 06 Mazda RX-8 which I really love BUT the cost of running it is getting a little ridiculous. I started a new job recently with a 60 mile round trip every day so it's costing me over £120 per week in petrol alone and thats driving economically! So the fuel economy of the XC60 is relative really!

Anyway, I'll be off just had to voice my excitement!

Nice Spec.

I hope you enjoy and have better luck than I am having just now, with my XC60.
Will not go into details just now, but mine is in the "Sick Bay".
Three to Four pages of Error Codes, when they plug in the computer and Volvo UK/Sweden, are looking into it.

No chance of you getting any Swedish Pine Cones with your car, as it is built in Belguim.

All the best.

Hi DBGlos, welcome to the forum. There are so few XC60 threads because there are so few XC60 owners ( so far ).

I have mine on order. I chose to wait for the new D5 engine, so I have to wait until late June.

Enjoy your car when you get it and let us know how you get on.

Oh dear!

Tem... Oh Dear!

What's the problem with your new baby? Anything I should look out for? Thanks for pointing out Belgium - was trying to ignore that aspect of it's manufacture and do my best to believe the advert!

Jack...

I nearly cancelled my order when I read your post about the new D5 engine but I spoke to two different dealerships and neither of them could confirm a date that I would be able to order let alone pricing! Both of them did however comment that the Road Fund Licence would not change and the option packages would increase in price (as would the car itself) so that combined with the additional waiting time meant I opted to leave my order as was!

I did dally for a long time when I read about the new engine but then realised that I could have the existing D5 tuned for pretty much the same output of the new engine etc so didn't bother.

That isnt to mention how much I would have spent on petrol in the RX-8 waiting longer for it to arrive!

I really cannot comment, just now.

But, it is because the XC60, goes into "Limp Mode". See earlier post, regarding, France.

I am hopeing, this is a "one off situation" and at this moment in time, I am not "spitting out the dummy" and letting Volvo, try and sort things out.

If, at the end of the day, it becomes a "Safety Issue", I will inform everyone.

Nice spec, are you sure you can do without the rear seat table though? :-)
BTW I saw a Maple Red XC60 on Desperate Housewives last week (yeah yeah I know, it's the wife!) clearly a bit of Volvo product placement. Colour looks great on TV.

DBGlos Apr 10th, 2009 23:15

Darn it!

I knew there was something!

I did order the rear seat table and cupholders.
Not to mention the Wooden steering wheel and geartronic shift knob.
Then there is the detacheable towbar.
AND... The auto tailgate!

I did miss a lot out didn't I... wonder if there is anything else that I missed? Hmmm...

Hey DB, my dealer told me a few weeks ago that all MY09 build slots had been taken and any order placed will be for the MY10 cars, which will start production at the end of May. I ordered a MY10 car about 3 weeks ago. Base price is up £750.

Having said that I'm sure you will be very happy with the current D5 and, as you say, you can get it tuned.

What kind of discount did you get ?

DBGlos Apr 11th, 2009 00:04

That's really interesting cos I ordered mine at about the same time or maybe just a bit earlier!!!

I wonder if I might just get a new D5 anyway!?!?!?!

It's totally bonkers that some dealers have more information than others though isn't it! My dealer is in the Midlands and I also asked one in Sheffield too (visiting family) and neither of them knew anything about it but looked into it. I wonder how yours knew the increase in base price yet both the dealers I spoke to said the new prices would be released around mid April??? Perhaps they deal with intermediaries and they are different and therefore have differing relationships with Volvo? Dunno!!!

I was told that the change also included twin tailpipes for the D5 and aluminium roof rails with a humidity sensor in the car!

JackRussel Apr 11th, 2009 16:33

Hey DB, my dealer knew very little about the new D5 but was able find the information for me when I asked. I imagine you are getting one of the last MY09 cars and I am getting one of the first MY10 cars. I am told the changes include the new D5 engine, twin aluminium exhaust tailpipes, a new steering wheel, aluminium roof bars and, as you say, a humidity sensor !

I am in no rush to change, currently running an 07 XC90, so I was happy to wait.

Hope your car arrives soon and let us know how you get on.
