S60 keys

Which bit contains Ecu chip so the car can be started, The Key or ther fob, I.e if I get a spare key cut will this allow me to get into the car and start it without the remote???

If its like most others I would say its in the plastic fob itself .

It's in the fob. Cutting a spare key will not start the car.

You looking at a good £150 for a new key to be coded to the car.

There are some on Ebay- but unless it comes with the code it can't be programmed by Volvo, and they will charge you for the programming regardless.

with the flip key you can buy the ignition key part separatly, it has the transponder in it and yes that can be coded in to the immobiliser independantly to the fob part and will start the car .
