OBD tool and spectacular odometer reading
Bought one of thse OBDII bluetooth interfaces (ebay "OBD2 ELM 327 Bluetooth Car Scanner for use with Volvo 850 OBD-II app").
Out of curiosity I used the odometer reading: after all, it wasn't going to tell me anything different from the mileometer, was it... The dashboard mileage shows 227k. The OBD odometer reading was 365k. (And it does appear to update in step with the distance indicated by the dash mileometer.) So... is it possible that when I bought it, with 130k on the clock, it had been clocked to half its actual mileage? Is it even possible to clock a '98 V70? Do I need to - or is it possible to - get the dash mileage 'corrected'? (I'm not intending to sell it.) Do I get extra high mileage club kudos? I've recently reinsured it for driving up to 5,000 miles per annum. I wonder how they'll react to my mileage increasing by 140,000 miles overnight... Observations welcome... |
Can you not check the MOT history to see if there is any discrepancies in the mileage!

Ouch!
Just had a look on eBay - is yours only for Android? |

The stored mileage will be in km and once converted to miles, it reflects the displayed mileage on the odometer. I can't see any problem with what you've found. |

Well, if you put it that way, cheshired5, so it makes perfect sense, like, I can't see any problem either, now... (Thanks for the calculation Whyman.)
Was quite exciting for a moment there tho' Pupbelly: I only know about the Android version. You could ask the ebay vendor. |
