The good olde SRS-Airbag Warning
 

Like a plumb, I hoiked out my head unit and AC unit to repair the dry solder joints in my HU-850. I have a 2006 S60.

Good news is that works a treat and she sounds better than ever now.

Bad news is I didn't disconnect the battery first so now I have an SRS Airbag Warning error.

I haven't really found a clear answer online how to fix this. Should it be a simple matter of clearing codes with an OBD II device or will I need specialist Volvo tools?

Apologies if this is a repetition of an existing thread, I searched the forum and couldn't find anything concrete.

Having done similar it ended up with a visit to a garage with the VIDA Volvo software to clear the code. Easy 5 minute job just needs the right software.

you need a tool that reads all modules not just a generic obd.

examples are : icarsoft i906 (handheld stand alone), DICE Volvo + VIDA software (needs laptop)

This is about the cheapest code reader that should erase SRS lights, but given the price, perhaps getting the Vida+Dice with a laptop would be a better investment https://www.ebay.com/itm/AUTEL-AL619...p2047675.l2557

Wow, thanks for the detailed advice guys I wasn't expecting that.

Some of those OBD II tools look excellent. A great long term investment. I've ordered one from Amazon. Might cost more than a one-time reset at the stealers, but an excellent long term investment.

HU850 Head unit still performing beautifully.

I did notice while I had it apart that the manufacturer (I think it's made by Mitsubishi, the main PCB is anyway) hasn't put any thermal paste on the heat-sunk transistors or the power amp IC; which may contribute to the heat stress and cracked / dry solder joints.

If the HU850 sound issue re-surfaces during the life of the car I'll add thermal paste while I have the unit disassembled.
