Rattling b-pillar air vents

Has anyone else experienced rattles from the fresh air vents in the b-pillars?

My V70 has a solid interior with no squeaks or rattle inside, except both from both inside b-pillars, around the air vents or just below. It's very irritating so I'm keen to diagnose and resolve. I haven't yet stripped the pillar trims to see if there is anything obvious that might cause it.

I thought the same (at certain bass frequencies in my case) but it turned out to be the rear door trim, the plastic strips surrounding the door opening lever. In my case I reupholstered doors anyway and just put them back tighter but could also achieve by flipping over door card and wedging something under the plastic on the other side

Also the metal rods for the door lock tend to rattle a bit, I had to stick some thin foam strip behind them

May or may not be the same in your case

Thanks for your input Stuart. I'm quite confident it's the pillars and not the doors but I won't rule out anything until it's resolved.

try lowering the rear windows alittle if the rattle is less investigate the rivits in the window mechanism these do wear

Interesting tips - thanks.

I've not had chance to investigate yet, although the car's been in good use recently for towing. On the journey I had an ear out for the rattles (hard to ignore tbf) and I'm now thinking more it's the doors as has been suggested, not the pillar. I need a ride in the back to be more sure.

You need someone in the back to poke at things until the noise stops I guess

Mine was the top of the rear door trim where it rests against the window. I stuffed a covid mask in the gap to cure it.

It did.

I have a new annoying noise now, the guide for the seat belt in the pillar has started "chirping". Copious amounts of silicone spray shall be applied, failing that another covid mask....

Yes that's my plan! There are worse places to ride

Quick tangent question..

Is there a way to get warm air through these vents without the front been to warm .Little one sleeps better when its warmer in the back. I like to be sat in 21 degrees as hotter makes me tired !
