Xc60 clutch problem

Hi, my clutch pedal has gone straight to the floor. It's a 12 plate, and has had a new clutch fitted a while ago. Currenyly on 98k miles. Are there any known issues?

Hydraulic Clutch

The Clutch is actuated hydraulically, using DOT 4 brake fluid from the brake hydraulic reservoir.

There is a push-fit disconnect on the pipe leading to the clutch slave cylinder inside the bell housing of the gearbox. Check that it has not disconnected. If so you will lose brake fluid from the reservoir and get a warning light.

Check underneath the gearbox area for any brake hydraulic oil leaks.

There is a plastic bleed nipple on the slave cylinder on the top of the gearbox bell housing (just in front and below the battery tray). You can open it using a small spanner. It's a fiddle to get to if you've got hands like shovels.

I repeat; IT IS PLASTIC - DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN OR FORCE!!!!

It will break. All it does is seal the fluid from coming out for bleeding.

Pull the clutch pedal back up, it should stay up by a spring. Use a large syringe and a clear flexible tube on the bleed nipple and vacuum bleed the system along with any air, doing so with the clutch pedal still in the up position. Do not pump the pedal, no need.

Keep the brake fluid reservoir cap open to top up DOT 4 brake fluid.

Once bled and the plastic bleed nipple GENTLY tightened, you should have a positive actuating clutch pedal that springs all the way back up. The clutch actuation should feel light and positive.

Hopefully it's nothing more than what's above.

Clutch problem

If it’s your hydraulic clutch actuator, it’s a gear box off job you might as well replace the clutch again while it’s all stripped down. It’s a big job and expensive if you take to the main dealers. Why Volvo located it inside the bell housing god only knows why.The clutches are not very good in the Xc60 same as Ford kuga 60k is all you will get if your lucky d m f prone to collapse.
