2011 XC60 D3 - dipstick or oil level sensor

My late 2011 (2012 model) XC60 D3 has the service dipstick. Should it have an oil level sensor? I've run through the menus available on the dash, but it only has the driving computer basics. Any ideas?

Otherwise it looks like I'll be in the market for the Police dipstick kit.

It should tell you in the handbook you will find info in there not found anywhere else...

Link for the dipstick kit. Your car will have a level sensor also. They all do. But I’d just fit the kit. 10 min job. Ensure you use both the seals that come with it. Physical dipstick oil level wants to be ideally at the 2 XX mark no higher than 3 XXX.

Thanks for the link. I’ll get one ordered.

The manual for my car shows a dipstick. But the sketch/line drawing shows a straight 6 engine.

Not sure what engine is in a D3 but for my D5 the part nos were...

VO31316562 - dipstick 19.80
VO31375301 - pipe 29.52
VO30637865 - seal 3.24
VO00982776 - screw 1.44

these prices are from 2 years ago when I did mine. The conversion is easy if done from underneath the car.

Just bear in mind that the max volume of oil 5.7 to 5.8l in my case does not equate to the top mark on the new dipstick (more like between 2 and 3 of the 4nr 'X' markings). lXXXXl

The attached image illustrates that the technician dipstick fill level is about halfway up the full length dispstick markings.

The D3 is the 2 litre version, however the same dipstick kit fits no problem.
