Advice needed.

I have a 54 reg V70 converted by the previous owner to a Romano N system and in the 3-1/2 years I've had the vehicle it has run without fault on LPG ... everything working as it should... auto switch over etc etc.

The other day I noticed that the indicator/switch was flashing away as if it was running on petrol but about to switch over to lpg (same as if the engine was cold ......but I had been driving for about 1/2hr so no way it was cold.) I tried manually switching it but it would not change over. I stopped at a job I was going to and when I came out and started the car the switch panel was completely blank i.e. no lights at all. Switched off and restarted and it lit up and appeared to be running on gas .... off I went only to conk out at a set of traffic lights. As I tried to restart everything lit up but the engine would not restart no matter what I tried to select it made no difference .... eventually it restarted after about 5 minutes but everything was lit up and flashing and the "no gas" beep going non stop. As I was in the middle of heavy traffic I didn't try anything and was just glad to get going and go home.

I now have no lights on the switch at all and the vehicle is now running on petrol only. I had a quick look at everything under the bonnet but other than one fuse I could find which is fine and checking that all the plugs etc are connected I can't really see anything glaringly obvious.

I know it's a long shot but anyone had similar experience ? I'm a bit of a pessimist and I can't help thinking the lpg ECU has fried itself (??)

First think to check is the fuse as you have done, also check the earth wire going to the battery.

You can also check the cable going to teh switch, make sure it has not rubbed through where is goes through the bulkhead.

If all that is ok then its pretty much down to teh switch or ECU

Ok - Many thanks.

I'll have a look at the switch cable.

Nothing worth checking around the tank area ? ... I'm doubting it ... as even if there was some sort of fault there, the switch would still light up but possibly or likely not change over etc.

I checked the multiplug onto the ecu plus a quick look inside didn't really reveal much ... the whole circuit board appears to be coated in a brownish varnish which looks a bit odd but think it's probably supposed to be like that (??)

the coating is there to seal it.

Nothing tank end would do it

Just pulled out the switch and checked if there is 12volts getting to it and I'm afraid it's a NO !

Earth is OK but defo no 12 volts. Double checked the fuse and it's OK and there is 12 volts on both sides of the fuse too....... so I'm back to thinking the ECU has had it :(

It does sound like an ECU. If you need one let me know but it will need programming

Thanks. What are we talking price wise?

Anyone up near edinburgh that you know of that would be able to program it?

I've looked at a couple of websites but by the info on the sites they may not even still be in business.
