V70 p3.5?
Hi Guys,
Went to look at a V70 2011, however it had the newer dash with the screen built into the dash rather than at the top of the radio controls. Was there such a thing as a P3.5 (4?) before they ended production of this shape? Externally, to me it looks identical to me, to the earlier models. Thanks! |
I think upto MY11 had the pop-up nav (if specified), then from MY12 it changed to the built in screen.

Personally, I really dislike the facelifted interior of the P3.
The original design looked so much better in my opinion, much prefered the analogue dials and the rectangular shaped floating console, instead of the fatter curved variant found in the facelift version. The sensus system from the XC60 was incorporated into the V70 & XC70 in 2011. In 2012, the V70 and XC70 received a minor facelift. The front received a redesigned bumper with more chrome, the Volvo logo on the front was enlarged. The indicators in the side mirrors were redesigned and changed to LED and the rear light cluster was changed. I believe there were also more paint & alloy options to choose from 2012 onwards. The biggest difference is the engine. If its a D5, the newer models from mid 2009 are twin turbo. The older ones weren’t (they had single turbo’s). There was an engine used in 2010-2011 that had a single turbo with 175bhp, but its rare to come by (D5244T14). This engine was badged “2.4 D” in 2010/2011- Its still a D5, but with less power. |

2011 V70’s & XC70’s had a minor facelift - Enlarged Volvo logo on the grill. More chrome, a resigned bumper & the sensus system inside the car. 2014 onwards had all of the above, plus a different rear light cluster (LED bulbs) including chrome accents around the rear light cluster. You can tell the difference, although the changes are subtle. |

It was an ex demo, and has a fair few options.. Dab, front and rear sensors, BLIS, ACC, Lane departure warning etc etc. Although i am hoping it also has the auxillary parking heater as i do early mornings with the dogs and would be lovely to get into a pre heated car at 6am in the winter! |

One thing i forgot to mention is that it also has PCC but apart from telling me if the car is locked etc, i don't really understand what else it does.

The aux heater was an option for cold climate markets - I don't think it was offered to the UK. It's an independent diesel or petrol powered engine & cabin heater, i.e the engine doesn't need to run for it to work. It heats and circulates the engine coolant and turns the interior fan on. I think it was made by Eberspacher...

ACC also had Collision Warning with Automatic Brake packaged with it, so it does an emergency brake procedure if you don't react when for example a car in front has stopped in a motorway traffic queue - that's useful to have :regular_smile: |
Yes it does have keyless entry as well, although i am not sure on keyless start?
Was that an additional option or was it all part of the PCC package? Shame about the aux heater but not the end of the world really. Also, what is it with nearly all of them having the drooping rear wiper? Do i just need to remove the arm and realign it or is it the motor thats on its way out? |
Yes, keyless entry and keyless start all in the same package. But that doesn't mean you can start it from your house to warm it up unfortunately - you still need to be in it and push the button!

Lovely drive back today, very smooth and relaxing.
Only thing i did notice was a slight clonk going in to first at a junction which i never picked up on the test drive, although the gearbox was probably not up to temp when i drove it. With that, ill get an fluid change done asap and hope that sorts it at Horton cars although i have an ODB scanner coming so ill plug that in and see if that throws up any problems. Got the price of a cam belt change off the car and my local Volvo dealer is going to do that, tensioner and aux belts so that is result, along with a health check. the only odd thing i have found so far is the footwell lighting is on the drivers side. It looks like there should be one on the passenger side as there appears to be a cut out for it, but no wiring as far as i could see. Also, the Xenon headlights are not great on dipped beam, although i suspect a new pair of bulbs will cure that as i don't really know how long they have been in there, so i have ordered a pair of Philips Xtreme Vision Gen2 Xenon lamps, along with a pair of matching H7 for the additional Main beam units. I did also put some new Bosch Aero Twin wiper blades on it as the ones that were on there had Volvo stamped on them and almost looked like they were the originals from the factory! And the rear wiper arm droops so i'll look into that as its very loose in the park position and can be moved down below the glass. |
