V50 2.0d running rough when cruising
Hi all,
I Bought a V50 the other day, really happy with it and if needs be I can take it back to the independent dealer I got it from but it's a 3 hours one way drive so would rather sort it myself if I can. Car fires up first turn of the key and runs ok although slightly round but by no means bad, however when cruising at say 1500-1700rpm at 30/40/50/60 (speed makes no difference neither does gears) is feals like its misfiring every now and then. When accelerating either hard or easily it pulls no bother and pulls like a train. There's no clutch slip, no untoward noises I can hear and it does it when warm or cold. I've tried cleaning the throttle body which was absolutely caked in crud, I haven't tried it yet to see if it's cured as I have my 2 year old daughter sleeping, I'll try it first thing tomorrow morning. the idle is still slightly rough, anything else anyone can recommend I try tonight? Cheers Mike. |
Brilliant car and engine. Change the fuel filter, throw away the fuel (and water) in the filter housing. Refill with fresh diesel from a can.
If that does not fix it, run some injector cleaner through (or a tank or two of heating oil if you can get it - it's flipping brilliant for cleaning injectors). If that does not fix it, come back :-) |

How is the car after changing filter?

V50
Hi Mdon,
I have the same issue with my V50 2.0d. Did you manage to get yours sorted. I have replaced the fuel filter on mine so far, but this didn’t help. Someone else has suggested EGR valve. |
Try
A tank of Shell V-Power and some cruising on a motorway at 2,200 rpm Clean out the EGR |
Thanks Meteor,
I have put some redex in it and just filled up with premium diesel. Will see what happens. |

Any other ideas? |
hi
i have the same issue, ive changed the fuel filter, replaced the fuel pressure sensor on the rail and fuel pressor regualtor on the pump, removed EGR and blanked incase it was this, cleaned out the throttle body, and still the same. i have been told it could be an injector fault. not sure if you can monitor this via VIDA as i cant seem to find anything on vida to monitor while running? unless anyone knows how to do it? guess its finding a garage that can test injectors which can see it being a cheap job  |
Hi
There is an injector check in Vida. It cuts the injectors one at a time so you can compare the rev drop each time. Should all have the same effect on amount revs dropping if all the injectors are OK. Think it also give the expected limits Iain |
